Associate Lawyer – Mississauga (1-3 years experience)
Schwarz law Partners LLP is immediately seeking 2 junior lawyers to join its high-volume real estate practice in Mississauga, Ontario. The ideal candidates will be a client focused, highly professional self-starters with strong analytical stills with the ability to manage stringent deadlines. The position requires attention to detail and a high level of judgment to organize workload and projects.
The ideal candidates will possess 1-3 years real estate experience in a busy law firm, working closely with law clerks. They must delegate effectively, work well under pressure as well as under minimal supervision. The ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy is a must. The candidates must also be very organized, have excellent time management skills and display a positive attitude.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Managing and completing residential purchase, sale and refinance files from start to finish
- Conducting intakes and identifying legal issues
- Reviewing agreements of purchase and sale, new build contracts, status certificates, etc.
- Drafting closing documents
- Supervising law clerks to organize and coordinate files
- Conducting and reviewing title searches, off-title searches, and drafting requisitions
- Meeting clients for execution of documents and communicating purpose and effect of documents
- Ensuring compliance with law society requirements
- Building client relationships and finding creative solutions for effective representation
Qualifications:
- Must be member in good standing with Law Society of Ontario
- Between 1-3 years of experience in real estate
- Must have the ability to perform title searches and all relevant correspondence searches in detail
- Must have experience in residential real-estate files – purchases, sales, mortgages, including contact with real estate agents and mortgage brokers
- Excellent oral and writing skills required
- Highly computer literate with advanced level skills using Teranet, Unity, Microsoft office products
- Exposure to PC Law an asset
- Resourceful, problem solver with a bias for taking action
- Results oriented with excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
